For generations upon generations children and adults alike, all around the world, have been playing with and collecting Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars. Dating back to the early 50s, these cars have not only excited our imaginations but also have increased in value over time.
For one collector and artist who prefers the moniker ‘CRAFTW3RK,’ learning about non-fungible tokens (NFTs) provided him with a chance to create and mint his very own Hot Wheels-like toy cars in the digital form. Meet the CryptoCARS©!
“I’ve been tuned into the crypto world since about 2010, so when the two worlds collided, it was only natural that I get involved with NFT’s,” CRAFTW3RK tells NFTsDaily.com. “One random night, I happened to be watching an unrelated crypto video on youtube, when a recommended video popped up mentioning NFT’s. The header intrigued me, so I clicked the video and next thing you know I was on Rarible setting up an account.”
At first, CRAFTW3RK’s entrance into the NFT space was an experiment of sorts, just to see what the hype was about and how feasible and easy it was to actually mint artwork. Within hours, however, CRAFTW3RK was fully immersed in the idea and the technology at hand.
“One thing that immediately grabbed my attention, was the community,” he tells us. “It is filled with incredibly talented artists, who are extremely supportive and it will only grow stronger with time. I quickly realized that NFTs are inherently changing the way we look at stores of value, as well as proprietary ownership of intellectual property. Artists from every avenue are finding unprecedented value in NFTs, and it’s just a matter of time before NFTs become an industry standard.”
After gaining some traction on Rarible, CRAFTW3RK teamed up with Ultra Niftie to begin work on the CryptoCars. Having been an avid fan of Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars as a child, he wanted to bring that same excitement into the digital space via the blockchain.
“We decided to make NFT versions of “Matchbox/Hot Wheels” style cars, complete with full packaging, as you would see them in stores,” says CRAFTW3RK. “Each car represents a different milestone in crypto history.”
Currently Series 1 is available for purchase on NFT marketplace Rarible, which features 8 of the top cryptocurrencies in the market, paired with some of the most exotic cars in the world. Series 2, called “CARtoon COLLECTION,” is currently being rolled out gradually, and features cars from some of his favorite cartoons.
“I don’t want to give away too many details at this point, but there will definitely be a super limited, special edition one for the, “CARtoon COLLECTION”, featuring an extremely talented artist, so stay tuned!” says CRAFTW3RK.
CRAFTW3RK has also teamed up with Revobit to create a limited edition, fully animated version of the famed DeLorean with a “Back To The Future” theme for the RevoBox Series.
